Galaxy-ELIXIR webinar series: Open Data Infrastructures to tackle COVID-19 pandemic
After the success of the first ['Galaxy-ELIXIR webinar series: FAIR data and Open Infrastructures to tackle the COVID-19 pandemic'](https://elixir-europe.org/events/webinar-galaxy-elixir-covid19) last spring, the Galaxy community has been running a second Galaxy-ELIXIR webinar series on ['Open Data Infrastructures to tackle COVID-19 pandemic'](https://elixir-europe.org/events/2nd-galaxy-elixir-webinar-series).
In this second edition, and for six consecutive weeks, speakers from all around the globe have been describing the latest Galaxy developments for working with SARS-CoV-2 data. If you missed them, the recordings are now available osn the ELIXIR Europe YouTube channel.
In the first session, Anton Nekrutenko and Marius van den Beek introduced the series and the lessons learned in the previous edition.
The second session was on the 'Importance of (open) infrastructures in responding to a pandemic' with Andrew Lonie, Guy Cochrane, Björn Grüning, Frederik Coppens and Nadim Rahman as speakers.
The COVID-19 Data portal was largely addressed during the 3rd session together with the data preprocessing, cleaning and submission to ENA, with Ignacio Eguinoa, Bert Droesbeke, Frederik Coppens and Miguel Roncoroni.
By the fourth session, Sergei Pond gave insights from selection analysis of complete genomes and read-level data.
Session 5 was dedicated to Viral Beacon and its interaction with Galaxy, with Babita Singh, Bjoern Gruening and Wolfgang Maier.
During the last one, with Milad Miladi, Nathan Roach, Pratik Jagtap and Subina Mehta explained the progresses made in Direct RNA Sequencing (DRS) and proteomics.
