Cross-disciplinary reuse of BioImage.IO AI models in Galaxy selected for the RAISE Registry of Good Practices in AI-enabled Science
Galaxy's integration of BioImage.IO AI models, an example of good practice in AI-enabled science
Selected for the Registry of Good Practices in AI-enabled Science
We are delighted that cross-disciplinary reuse of BioImage.IO AI models in Galaxy has been selected for inclusion in the RAISE Registry of Good Practices in AI-enabled Science.
The case builds on the Galaxy integration of the BioImage Model Zoo (BioImage.IO), which lets researchers from any discipline run AI models for image analysis in Galaxy workflows, without needing local computational resources, and is supported by a dedicated tutorial in the Galaxy Training Network (GTN): Using BioImage.IO models for image analysis in Galaxy.
The Registry showcases effective usage of AI in scientific research and highlights practices providing valuable insights for other research communities. It delineates how AI is integrated into research, what enables good practice, and what scientific or organisational outcomes it can support.
Being included in the Registry recognises the value of our work as a strong example of good practice in AI-enabled science, and helps make its experience visible to the wider European research community.

About RAISE
The Registry is available via the RAISE Hub, which was launched on 15 October 2026 during the AI in Science Summit.
RAISE, the Resource for AI Science in Europe, is a European Commission initiative designed to connect computing, data, expertise, funding, training and communities across Europe. At this stage, RAISE is strongly focused on bottom-up engagement with the research community, to better understand its needs, demands and emerging opportunities for AI-enabled science.
The RAISE Hub serves as a gateway to information, initiatives and resources, while also creating a space for researchers and communities to contribute their experience and help shape future priorities.
